We are just starting up our holiday decorating for clients this year! Last year, we had a lot of fun, and as always, enjoyed seeing our clients’ family tradition pieces and new treasures.
While decorating last year, I noticed that we repeatedly used the same five items that I packed as a survival bag the first day of our outings, so I thought I should share them with you. Hopefully they can help you this year.
In the bag was a roll of green floral tape, green floral wire, wire cutters, plastic ties and 18” floral picks (like a small dowel rod). The floral tape was great for holding down electrical plugs with snow villages, and the floral wire and cutters were great for adding decorative items to garland. The plastic ties were used to hold angels and tree toppers to top of tree. The biggest life savers were the 18” floral picks. We used them at every home to help strengthen the lit star tree toppers and hold them straight since they were very top heavy!
We hope these tools and tips will be helpful. Or you could leave the decorating to the professionals. Our design experts can create a simple or elaborate display for your home or business. Here are some festive options for decorating light fixtures to sprinkle holiday décor through out your home. If you are too busy to deck the halls yourself, then give Cheryl Smith Associates a call. We offer full service holiday decorating for your home or office.
To make this festive Fall centerpiece, Cheryl used Styrofoam, glass tubes with candles, a stuffed owl (which seems to be a hot item this season), a really cute booty ornament, copper containers, pumpkins and lots of greenery in a bright lime color.

One of our clients challenged us to create four separate looks for her family room. The inspiration boards below offered different looks for upholstered furniture, window treatments, and wall covering. Which would you choose?
This kitchen is as functional as it is pretty. The double islands make entertaining a breeze. Using one as a work island, the other is put to use serving food and drink to guests. The Kitchen opens directly into the family room, making sure everyone is included in the festivities. This kitchen boasts hidden features to make life easier. The doggy gates extend to keep Fido from under foot, but are tucked away nicely into niches when not in use. The TV is recessed into the second island and can be fully retracted when not in use.
